Welcome to Our Lady of Mount Carmel’s website. Our Lady of Mount Carmel has a long history of
educating the children of the Boonton area. We have a Star School designation from the Diocese of Paterson, which
means we have been judged by our peers to have an outstanding cross-curricula program of education.
This year we will be following in St. Paul’s footsteps imitating Christ. Each class has selected a
specific Saint to focus on and during Catholic School’s Week, which is the end of January, we will transform our
building into the early Church. Our classes will work on discipleship and service to others throughout the year.
Individual classes will work with the parish and community to give back to those that are in need just as Christ
would, by sponsoring different service projects.
Our children are fortunate to have their Humanities classes begin in Pre-K-4. These enrichment
programs are in Music, Art, Spanish, Computers, Library Skills, Life-Skills and Physical Education. These courses
give our children an opportunity to grow more individually as they embark on the discovery of their inner selves.
Our students also learn more about how to live happy and healthy lives while becoming contributing members of their
community.
We have introduced a program called Positive Discipline to all in our school, which will help teach
students, teachers and parents how to be more like Christ. We will learn techniques that will empower us to better
communicate our needs and desires in a clear friendly manner so that conflicts can be averted. This program will
give the students the tools they need to be able to solve problems that arise in any given day and build their
self-esteem in the process.
We have revised our Math curriculum so that we are introducing Algebra to the students throughout
their years at Our Lady of Mount Carmel and specifically concentrating on Algebra in the seventh and eighth grades.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel has also introduce a reading program for Kindergarten through sixth grade, which will allow
for more individualized instruction. It is a goal at Our Lady of Mount Carmel to educate each child to the best of
their ability.
We are proud of how our science and computer labs have been upgraded and we look forward to more
technology being added throughout the year. At this time four of our classrooms have white boards and we anticipate
two more boards being added by years end. We are ready to prepare our children for the twenty-first century.
Please continue to browse through our website so that you can receive a more enhanced picture of
how we are dedicated to educating every child given to us.
May God bless you and keep you in His care,
Gladys Driscoll
