Technology
To augment the learning experience, Our Lady of Mount Carmel (OLMC) employs the use of various
computer technologies throughout the school.
Internet & Fully Networked Classrooms:
High-speed Internet access has been installed throughout the school. In addition to each
classroom being fully wired, the Internet is accessible from anywhere via the school's
Wireless network. Internet usage is "Content Filtered" and monitored for safety.
Computers:
Grade pre-k3 through grade 4, have computers located within the classrooms. Grades 5-8
have the use of the computer lab/ Media Center.
Computer Lab and Media Center:
Implemented in the summer of 2010, OLMC has a 28 workstation computer lab and
media center. All stations contain a standard image that includes an office suite and
LAN-School that allows the instructor to "broadcast" either the instructors or another
student's pc to the rest of the class.
Smart White Boards:
Starting in the 2008-2009 school year, OLMC has employed the use of Numonic Smart
White Boards. Every classroom is equipped with a white board for interactive teaching.
Faculty & Staff:
Each teacher is supplied with her own laptop. Like the student laptops, they have been standardized on Windows
XP with MS-Office 2003 and have full access to the Internet anywhere in the school.
As required by the Paterson Diocese, each laptop is also equipped with PowerTeacher.
This online application allows for the centralized tracking of all curriculum and grades.
Each teacher and staff member is also supplied with her own e-mail to further enhance
communication between the faculty, staff, students, and parents. Email addresses are listed in the
Faculty Staff page.
